What are Caregiver Support Consultations?

Our Caregiver Support Consultations offer individualized, short-term support for kinship, foster, and adoptive caregivers. These sessions are designed to address immediate concerns, provide guidance on specific challenges, or offer a listening ear from someone who understands the complexities of caregiving.

What to expect:

Caregivers can schedule a single consultation of up to 60 minutes, either virtually or in person, based on preference and availability. These sessions are not therapy, but rather targeted support to help you navigate a current issue or prepare for an upcoming situation.

Common topics may include:

  • Responding to recent behavioral or emotional changes in a child
  • Preparing for key transitions, such as reunification or placement changes
  • Strengthening attachment and connection with a child in your care
  • Strategies for advocating within schools, healthcare, or child welfare systems
  • Navigating boundaries with birth families
  • Self-care and caregiver burnout prevention

Whether you're facing a new challenge or simply need to talk through your next steps, these consultations with a licensed social worker are here to help you feel more confident and supported in your caregiving journey.

Who can participate:

Kinship, foster, and adoptive caregivers currently caring for children or youth.
