Tips for Hosting Your Own Lemonade Stand for Foster Village
This July, dozens of families and kids across Northeast Kansas are turning lemons into lemonade as part of our annual “Growing the Village Is Sweet” campaign.
This year, our goal is to raise $20,000 to help provide essential items, wraparound support, and a sense of belonging to families experiencing foster, kinship, or reunifying care.
By hosting a lemonade stand, you can empower families and kids to make a difference, build awareness, and help raise funds for this important work. It just takes one cup at a time.
Why a Lemonade Stand?
Every cup you pour helps build a stronger, more connected village for families navigating the foster care system here in Northeast KS. By donating your proceeds to Foster Village, you’re helping us provide essentials, support programs, and community connection for children and caregivers when they need it most. It’s a simple act with a big impact.
How to Get Started
1) Sign up to host your stand and reserve your kit!
Each lemonade stand kit includes:
- Lemonade mix
- Campaign banner
- Sidewalk chalk
- Stickers
- A tip sheet on how to talk about foster care
- Optional: Two Foster Village t-shirts (included with your $20-30 donation)
2) Pick up your kit on June 28 in Lawrence or Topeka, or arrange for an alternate pickup if needed.
3) Choose your stand date and location for sometime in July!
Tips for Hosting Your Lemonade Stand
✅ Pick a date, time and visible location.
✅ Plan your supplies: table, chairs, cups, water, ice, pitchers, cooler
✅ Create eye-catching signs. Let the kids help!
✅ Set a price or ask for donations. Many hosts suggest $1-2 per cup.
✅ Offer a mobile payment option. Send cashless donors to your personal Venmo or PayPal.
✅ Spread the word ahead of time. Use social media, text your friends, post flyers.
✅ Take photos and tag us on social media (Facebook and Instagram). We’ll share your post on our feed!
✅ Be ready to talk about foster care! Your kit includes a helpful tip sheet.
✅ Add optional goodies. Consider also selling cookies, crafts or snack bags.
✅ Have fun supporting a good cause!
